Vivek Wadhwa, a contributing columnist to WRALTechWire, will join two female executives and columnists to discuss what’s next for women in business in a “live” online forum Monday afternoon.

Wadhwa has been embroiled in a debate about the lack of women in the ranks of executives and boards at technology companies. The most recent differences of opinion have come with the founder and CEO of Twitter, The issue has generated headlines across a wide swath of media.

The former Research Triangle technology entrepreneur who now is an author and academic at several universities (including Duke) is in the process of writing a book about women in business.

Today’s forum begins at 1 p.m. EST.

Here’s the notice as posted at LinkedIn:

“The past week has been an eventful one for women in the news: President Obama nominated Janet Yellen as the next chair of the Federal Reserve, fueling headlines that this will make her the most powerful woman in the world. But that speculation couldn’t compare to the release of Fortune’s annual rankings of the Most Powerful Women in Business, where women in tech claim five of the top 10 spots (and for the first time in a long time, Oprah isn’t included).

“Meanwhile, the debate raged on about Twitter’s plans to have an all-male (and all-white) board of directors once the company goes public.

“So what implications does all of this have for women in the workforce? Join Lucy P. Marcus, Kathryn Minshew and Vivek Wadhwa at 1 p.m. Eastern on Monday, Oct. 14 for a live video chat to discuss everything from getting more women on boards to the impact “Lean In” is having in the workplace.
