Telit Wireless Solutions is making a move into cloud-based services through its acquisition of Florida company ILS Technology.

Telit, a London-based company that maintains its North American headquarters in Raleigh, provides businesses with machine-to-machine solutions (M2M), the technologies that allow wired and wireless devices to communicate with each other. No financial terms of the acquisition were disclosed.

ILS Technology, based in Boca-Raton, connect enterprise IT systems to M2M-enabled devices and other business-critical machines through its cloud-based technologies.

ILST management, engineering and support staff will now become part of Telit’s m2mAIR services, a business unit that Telit started in 2012 working with mobile partners. Telit said that ILST expands m2mAIR into Internet-side services.

“The ILST acquisition provides Telit with access to additional value added services and customers, providing Telit with an even broader footprint in the M2M value chain,” Oozi Cats, chief executive at Telit Wireless Solutions said in a statement. “It opens up new opportunities to expand our service offerings to small & medium M2M customers worldwide, widening our market advantage.”
