Institute for Emerging Issues Director Anita Brown-Graham was honored at the White House today for her effort to engage North Carolina citizens in civic participation.

The Institute for Emerging Issues is a “think-and-do” tank at N.C. State University dedicated to North Carolina’s future competitiveness. Earlier this year, the institute launched an engagement tool called the Emerging Issues Commons. The tool is both physical and virtual — it’s a physical space and an online hub. The White House ceremony was streamed online at whitehouse.gov/live.

“I am extremely proud of the way the Emerging Issues Commons is already engaging North Carolina’s citizens, and it is an honor for this work to be recognized by the White House,” Brown-Graham said in a statement.
