New information obtained from IBM workers facing layoffs document that Big Blue has told nearly 2,300 workers across 31 work groups to find new jobs within the company or leave.

Those totals are up some 700 individuals and 15 work groups over the past 24 hours.

Meanwhile, officials in New York were told by IBM officially that job cuts there would affect 697 people.

IBM also is laying off workers in numerous other countries.

Internal “resource action” documents were obtained by Alliance at IBM, the union seeking to represent IBM workers. Resource action is IBM speak for layoffs.

The “rebalancing” as IBM’s CFO has termed the layoffs and reorganization started on Wednesday.

“Hundreds” have been affected in North Carolina, a source familiar with the action told WRALTechWire. And several RTP workers have posted news at the Alliance website.

However, IBM has yet to post any official announcement with the North Carolina Department of Commerce about any job cuts.
