RTI International has promoted Philip Schwehm to vice president of the Governance and Economic Development Division at the research institute.

For the past two years, Schwehm has served as senior director of the division where he supported the Governance and Economic Development programs. Prior to joining RTI in 2004, Schwehm served as U.S. Agency for International Development’s (USAID) senior governance advisor in Indonesia.

Schwehm has 20 years of professional experience in the international development sector. He has served in various senior capacities managing complex development projects and designing program strategies and interventions in economic governance and public sector management based on the political, institutional, and socioeconomic conditions of developing countries. He has managed and contributed to major development projects with USAID, the U.K.’s Department for International Development and the World Bank in the Middle East, Eastern Europe, and Southeast Asia.
