The head of research at the Federal Reserve Bank in Richmond, a panel of area financial executives and several bankers will look at the climate for growth capital and ways to grow revenue in the current environment when they gather at an Oct. 6 forum sponsored by the Association for Capital Growth’s Raleigh-Durham chapter.

The morning-long event will be held at the Sheraton Imperial hotel at 4700 Emperor Blvd. in Research Triangle Park.

The featured speaker will be John Weinberg, who is senior vice president and director of research at the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond. Weinberg’s talk has a title that reflects questions being asked at all levels of business as the nation, region and state look for reliable signs of economic direction: “Where are we and where are we going?”

After Weinberg’s keynote, a panel will talk about how to grow revenues in an environment that seems inhospitable.

The moderator is going to be Paul Steinke of Dunning Capital, and he’ll be joined by John Kurtzweil, CFO of Cree, Inc.; Peter Schmitt, CFO of Nomacorc; Jeff Williams, CEO at Cinipace; and Matt Springer, executive vice president for corporate development at Connexion Technologies.

The morning’s second panel will look at the state of mergers and acquisitions.

For that group, whose topic is, “Outlook for M&A in 2012 – Is the money back?,” Brent Burgess of  Triangle Capital Corp. will moderate. The panelists will be John Fennebresque of Fennebresque & Co.; Rick Dowd of Wells Fargo Securities; Doug Riddle of Fifth Third Bank; and Anil Asnani of LabCorp.
