Bankrupt Nortel Networks has closed on the sale of its former headquarters in Ottawa, Canada, to the Canadian government for $208 million in Cash.

Nortel, which once employed some 8,000 people in the Triangle, is liquidating its assets as part of the bankruptcy.

The network communications gear company will continue to occupy some space at the Canada complex.

The deal was first announced in October.
