Intel Capital, the investment arm of the chip-making giant, has taken a stake in Charlotte-based Adaptivity, Intel announced at its CEO Summit event in Huntington Beach, Calif.

The Adaptivity investment was among $77 million in actions involving 18 companies, Intel reported Tuesday. Adaptivity said Intel Capital put in $3 million.

Adaptivity helps companies address complexities associated with IT design and implementation.

It offers the Blueprint 4IT Lifecycle Suite of solutions, which it says helps companies build intelligent IT design decisions into repeatable actions.

Intel’s funding will be used to accelerate product development and build out sales and marketing infrastructure, the investor said.

Last month, Adaptivity announced a $7.2 million Series A funding round led by Intersouth Partners and Noro-Moseley Partners. It said the Intel investment capped the round at $10.3 million.
