RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. – North Carolina leaders from public and private sectors recognize the need to improve STEM 9science, technology, engineering, math) skills. coordinates grassroots STEM initiatives and connects them to local, state, and national expert partners to prepare all kids for college and careers. This coordination of resources creates the NC STEM Network.

On Monday, the excitement of expanding the NC STEM Network in more economic regions in the state continued to build at Rowan-Cabarrus Community College where local leaders met to look at ways to better equip children with the tools they need be successful in the 21st century.

Dozens of STEM supporters, ranging from local economic development leaders to educational leaders, attended Monday’s event and reception. New STEM Communities establish their own community design team to begin work on their STEM innovations.

NC STEM was encouraged by the Joining Our Businesses & Schools (JOBS) Commission, chaired by Lt. Governor Walter Dalton, to expand to new communities in all seven economic development regions of the state.

NC STEM currently is working with three communities in the state that include Davie County, Lenoir County and the 11-counties surrounding Ft. Bragg in Fayetteville.
