CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Knowmad Technologies and the University of Illinois at Chicago Library have launched a new and improved Web site for the library. Knowmad provided visual design for the site, which was integrated with the existing content management system using site architecture the library developed.

“The need to effectively manage and retrieve content presents a challenge to school administrators to find cost efficient solutions that are powerful, stable, user-friendly and scalable for future growth,” says Diona Kidd, vice president of Knowmad Technologies. “Knowmad partnered with the Web Oversight Committee at the University of Illinois at Chicago Library to provide a visual design that meets their goals of making information, services, resources and collections more accessible.”

Patron surveys and usability testing played an important role in designing the site, which has easily scanned pages, simplified terminology, clear navigation, and a clean graphic appearance.

“Knowmad was very easy to work with. They were always professional and helpful in their communication,” says Kimberly Pendell, Assistant Information Services Librarian at University of Illinois at Chicago Library of the Health Sciences – Chicago. “Knowmad provided us with an excellent design that will significantly increase content access for our users.”
