RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. – If you haven’t signed up to attend WRAL Local Tech Wire’s "SaaS Road Show" on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week, you are missing out on an opportunity to learn a great deal about software as a service.

SaaS is a hot topic as companies look to improve efficency, reduce costs, serve customers better and spend more time focused on their core business rather than software performance that can be managed by someone else.

At last count, we have more than 400 people registered – more than 200 each.

LTW is working in partnership with the Carolina SaaS User Group for panel discussions on Tuesdays in Durham and Wednesday in Charlotte. As we said last week, the speakers are top notch.

Gary Griffiths, the former president of WebEx, will serve as the keynote speaker and moderator of the panels. WebEx is now part of Cisco’s growing empire, providing a tool for Web conferencing and much more.

Cisco is advertising its WebEx services heavily, noting how one executive can deal with peers and customers on a global basis without leaving the office.

Given the increasing prices for travel, doesn’t conference sound better than ever as an alterantive?

Tuesday’s speaker lineup includes Ryan Allis, chief executive officer of e-mail marketing firm iContact. (Allis and co-founder Aaron Houghton were recognized as emerging company winners on Thursday in the Ernst & Young Carolinas entrepreneur of the year event.)

Dave Anderson, founder of PeopleClick, is also on the panel along with Don Sturdivant, chief technology officer at Square 1 Bank and Tony Verdone, vice president of development and operations at MediClick.

Joining Griffiths in Charlotte is Igor Jablokov, whose voice-to-text technology company Yap just closed on a new round of venture funding. Also participating will be Peter Mann, senior vice president of Authoria, Scott Schubert, CEO of AMT Direct, and Jerry Wetmore, CEO of BioPop.

Both events start at 11 a.m. We will be convening in Durham at the American Tobacco complex and in Charlotte at Bank of America Stadium.

Great venues, great speakers, red-hot technology topic. Be there.
