RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. — Sherrill Speers, a former executive with GE’s Aircraft Engine Group, is joining RTI International’s International Development Group as vice president of finance.

Speers will be responsible for ensuring that RTI’s international development projects adhere to corporate policies as well as external regulations.

“With Sherrill in place to provide us with leadership from a financial perspective, we are positioned now to fully leverage financial initiatives to better support our projects,” said Lisa Gilliland, RTI’s vice president and chief operating officer of the International Development Group. “We look forward to his contributions as part of our management team with respect to the strategic direction of IDG.”

Over the past six years, Speers worked with private equity firms as a chief financial officer for portfolio companies. After leaving GE he held executive positions at Scientific Atlanta and international manufacturer Morgan Crucible Company.
