BT (British telecommunications), the largest telecom provider in the United Kingdom, will use gear from Nortel for its hosted business Internet Protocol-based services, the companies announced early Monday.

“BT’s vision for the digital networked economy is transforming the way we meet our customers’ needs,” said Mark Logan, general manager for virtual private network services at BT. “The Nortel hosted voice service is an important part of that transformation.”

BT has ordered Nortel Communications Server 2000 to provide IP-based voice business services.
