Ordering, installing and delivering high-speed Internet access is not the weeks-long process it used to be, based on Systech Retail Systems’ experience with WindChannel Communications.

WindChannel, a Raleigh-based firm, delivered high-speed wireless Internet access for Systech in five days, the companies said in a statement.

WindChannel offers Internet access through wireless and radio frequency technology through what is called a “fixed wireless broadband” network. Because the system is wireless, WindChannel can bypass previous industry bottlenecks such as ordering and provisioning of landline circuits through Internet Service Providers and/or communications companies.

“In today’s competitive business environment we are always looking for ways to increase efficiency and reduce costs,” said Shawn Taylor, who is network manager for Systech. “Fixed wireless broadband from WindChannel is a better way of receiving a fast, reliable Internet connection without waiting months for installations.”

WindChannel offers point-to-point and point-to-multipoint services, reducing bandwidth costs as much as 50 percent.

Systech offers integrated retail technology solutions, such as software, systems and support, to a variety of supermarket, general merchandise and hospitality chains. It has offices in Dallas, Boston, Los Angeles, Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver and Raleigh.
