SciQuest (NASDAQ:SQI) has landed a big contract with the state of Ohio that calls for 161 state agencies to use the company’s purchasing software.

Cary-based SciQuest will automate critical purchasing and accounts payable processes. The company provides purchasing software to institutions such as universities and government agencies. The software is accessible over the Internet via a Software-as-a-Service model.

SciQuest’s cloud-based software will integrate with Ohio’s existing OAKS ERP system. The changes will reduce taxpayer costs and improve efficiency. No financial terms of the Ohio contract were disclosed. But SciQuest said automating processes is expected to save Ohio millions of dollars a year.
