Quintiles aims to speed up development for apps to boost healthcare with a new “Solution Design Studio.”

The accelerator’s team will work with Quintiles clients in a variety of initiatives such as virtual reality and wearables.

Quintiles recently unveiled VR efforts to help improve clinical trials.

“We believe that the future of healthcare is intertwined with technology innovation and its application in real-world settings,” said Richard Thomas, Quintiles president of Technology & Solutions. “Simply put, we are working with stakeholders to rapidly create technology solutions that solve healthcare challenges, big and small.”

The Solution Design Studio is based near Quintiles’ international headquarters in Durham.

Its team includes simulation analysts, wearable and virtual reality experts, user-interface designers and app developers.

“Working together [with clients], they can create technology solutions that exceed expectations and delight users, from researchers through healthcare workers and ultimately patients,” Quintiles noted.

Quintiles (NYSE: Q) is not new to embracing technology for healthcare advances.

Its tech teams have already developed mobile apps, clinical development suite and also contributes to the Apple ResearchKit effort.
