Students in the JOCO ROBOS make executive, technical, financial, strategic and operational decisions that mirror those of successful engineering companies, priming them for careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
Serendipitous moments were a common occurrence at the first-ever "Career in a Year Showcase" Tuesday night at Johnston Community College. In the large lobby of the Tart Building filled with information about 100 possible paths, all requiring less than a year to complete or for certification, job seekers had plenty of opportunity to happen upon the right fit.
A good nurse aide will never be unemployed. Also in demand are phlebotomists and cardiovascular technicians. Training for these careers, along with home health aide or geriatric aide certifications, can be achieved in less than half a year.
The NC Truck Driver Training School (NCTDTS) at Johnston Community College has been continuously training truck drivers since 1949, shepherding them through technological change into well-paying jobs.
