Life science startups and companies looking for wet lab or flex office space can now find both options at the North Carolina Research Campus in Kannapolis.
The NCRC has two 2,000 square foot lab research suites, and these can be subdivided.
Also available is the first flexible office space, which covers 1,100 square feet and can be subdivided.
“Each laboratory is equipped with administrative areas, a full complement of casework, modified epoxy resin tops, fume hoods, wall and center bench shelving, sinks and storage,” NCRC notes.
“Adjacent to the new ready-to-use laboratory is the NCRC’s first 1,100-square-foot, flexible office space. The office space gives companies an affordable physical location with the option to expand into laboratory space when needed. “
The North Carolina Biotechnology Center sees the new offerings as a boost for startups and emerging companies.
“The number of life science entrepreneurs in the region is growing, but space is limited in the Charlotte area,” said Corie Curtis, director of the North Carolina Biotechnology Center’s Charlotte Office. “The NC Research Campus offers some of the only wet laboratory and office space combination built specifically for the needs of biotech start-ups.”
The space is located on the third floor of the main lab building.
The David H. Murdock Research Institute, UNC Charlotte’s Bioinformatics Services Division and testing facilities such as the UNC Nutrition Research Institute’s Human Research Core and the Appalachian State University Human Performance Laboratory are all located at NCRC as is a Medical Plaza.
