The North Carolina Research Campus in Kannapolis is getting a new NCSU food processing innovation center.

NCSU has a major agricultural program based on the grounds of a former textile mill.

The center will be funded with $5 million from the state of North Carolina plus $700,000 in recurring funds for leasing costs, according to the Charlotte Business Journal.

“The North Carolina Research campus will house the new Food Processing Innovation Center, equipped with a GMP-compliant plant allowing its researchers to produce food products,” the newspaper reports.
