Research firm Technology Business Research has the breakdown on the newly reorganized IBM, identifying eight business units and their new leaders. What are the groups? Who is leading them?

Here they are:

  • IBM Watson (Mike Rhodin) — Launched in 2014, this unit remains unchanged and will continue to develop cognitive solutions for clients.
  • IBM Analytics (Robert Picciano) — Includes core big data analytics, Database, Data warehouse, analytics platform, plus analytics solutions, Risk and Fraud, smarter cities, and Internet of Things, among other areas.
  • IBM Commerce (Deepak Advani) — Focuses on CMO and market management activities as well as all phases of commerce activities such as sales, supply chain, procurement and business to business (B2B) integration.
  • IBM Security (Brendan Hannigan) — All Security software assets plus security services team in GTS; this unit will also focus on mobility and data security solution development and services management capabilities.
  • IBM Cloud (Robert LeBlanc) — This will fold in the IBM assets for IaaS and PaaS cloud offerings, including cloud-managed services and SoftLayer previously housed in GTS, the BlueMix platform, and developer activities. SaaS solutions will remain spread through the Analytics, Watson and Commerce units, where application-driven outcomes will be more readily marketed to outcome buyers.
  • IBM Systems (Tom Rosamilia) — Includes servers and storage, plus middleware for infrastructure; here IBM combines the core infrastructure assets that deliver high performance, reliability and resiliency for buyers seeking to own and control their IT infrastructure.
  • GBS (Bridget van Kralingen) and GTS (Martin Jetter) remain in place, except for the pieces of SoftLayer and Security folded into the Cloud and Security units, respectively.
  • Global Business Partners (Marc Dupaquier) resides in the Systems unit.
