Google is expanding its Google Express online market and delivery service to North Carolina as well as several other southeastern states.

Users have a choice of paying a fee per order or a monthly charge or an annual service fee.

Google Express offers overnight delivery from a variety of stores through online or mobile device ordering. Costco, Walgreens, Toys”R”Us, and Petsmart are among merchants included in the service.

The expansion pits Google Express against shopping and delivery services in the Triangle such as Amazon Prime and Instacart.

An introductory offer includes a three-month membership at no charge.

“Our goal with Google Express is to offer a great shopping experience and connect people with their favorite stores,” said Brian Elliott, General Manager of Google Express, in the expansion announcement.

In addition to North Carolina, Google Express is expanding service to South Carolina, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Tennessee and Kentucky. Other states added are: Utah, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Wyoming and Washington.

An annual membership is $95.

Monthly fee is $10.

Pay-as-you-go charge is $4.99 or higher.
