Research Triangle Park, N.C. —
Big Blue confirms a "rebalancing" is underway. IBM workers are saying that "resource actions" - IBM terminology for layoffs - began on Monday. Alliance @ IBM, which is seeking to represent IBM employees, confirms that 12 business units are being hit with 870 job cuts. The union estimates job cuts "could build into the thousands."Copyright 2013 WRAL Tech Wire. All rights reserved.

I find it very sad that corporations continue to push out loyal productive employees just so they can turn another penny a dollar in profit. "Liquid players", "Generation Open". These are terms corporations are attaching to what American workers are becoming, disposable. Like so much toilet paper. To make it worse the people most heavily impacted are those that would be retiring in 10 to 15 years and will have a difficult time finding new employment. The only people that benefit from all this are the CEOs who's bonuses increase and possibly the stockholders for a brief time. Companies like IBM should probably start looking for a country to relocate their headquarters to because there won't be anyone left in the US for them to do business with.
