Medical device company Baxano Surgical (NASDAQ:BAXS) has secured regulatory approvals and distribution deals outside of the United States for three of its of its products.

Baxano specializes in devices treating degenerative spinal conditions in the lumbar region. The company said that Disorthortho in Colombia and Biomedical Tech in Mexico, both established companies in spinal implants in their respective countries, will begin distributing the Raleigh company’s AxiaLIF Plus and VEO.

MediKon Saglik in Turkey has been a distributor of AxiaLIF for many years. The company will now add Baxano’s IO-Flex to its portfolio. Baxano said that surgeons in all three markets have been trained on the medical technologies and are expected to begin using them in surgeries in the fourth quarter.

“We are excited to be expanding our international footprint in Latin America and Turkey,” Baxano President and CEO Ken Reali said in a statement. “We believe that these markets represent attractive opportunities for our proprietary portfolio of minimally invasive spine products.”

Baxano is the product of the merger of North Carolina company TranS1 with California-based Baxano earlier this year. The combined company is managed by the former TranS1 team and is headquartered in Raleigh. Following the close of the merger in the spring, the combined company took the Baxano name.
