RTI has opened an office in Nairobi, Kenya, that will serve as its hub to coordinate and support projects across the African continent.

The Research Triangle-based firm has more than 30 projects currently underway across Africa. Of those, four are in Kenya.

The Nairobi office includes a staff of 11 general administrative personeel and 19 project or technical staff.

“Africa is a major focal point for our international development efforts,” said Wayne Holden, RTI’s chief executive officer. “This office will bring us closer to our people in the field as well as provide us with a larger corporate presence so that we can expand our work in the African region.”

RTI, an independent nonprofit research and development organization, operates in more than 40 countries and a staff of more than 2,800 people.
