RTI International, one of the oldest and most prestigious among Research Triangle Park-based companies, is the No. 6 firm on the second annual Forbes magazine list of America’s Best Employers for mid-sized companies.

“It is a tremendous honor to be recognized as a Forbes best employer,” said RTI President and CEO Wayne Holden, in a statement. “Inclusion in this list confirms our commitment to providing our staff members with a great place to work that supports them in their efforts to improve the human condition by turning knowledge into practice.”

RTI made the announcement Wednesday afternoon.

In all, 250 companies were selected.

In all, five North Carolina firms were selected.

Forbes surveyed more than 30,000 employees across the country to rank firms with 1,000 and 5,000 employees.

An earlier report on large companies ranked 500 of those firms with more than 5,000 workers.

Employees were asked to rate their employers in a variety of categories.

“We are so pleased that employees see RTI as a premier organization to work for, and we will work to continue providing our staff with the environment and resources they need to excel,” said Lisa May, RTI executive vice president of Human Resources.
