Wake Forest on a Downtown ‘Renaissance’

The Town of Wake Forest is getting fanfare — and great returns — on its planning and investments in historic revitalization and public infrastructure downtown. Construction on new business is just one clue to the interest that the Wake County town is getting in what began with plans for a “renaissance” there. What was called the Renaissance Plan for the Heart of Wake Forest in 2003 received an update in 2017 after more than $25 million went into the improvement of downtown. Examples include a modernized streetscape, wayfinding signs, a new town hall and space for the popular Friday Night on White concerts. Added up, downtown Wake Forest has a much greater sense of place that residents and businesses are flocking to.
