RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK — Job openings in the Triangle hit a new low this week, according to the most recent edition of the WRAL TechWire Jobs Report. The total number of postings fell to the lowest since WRAL began tracking this data two years ago — to 243,193 postings total (not accounting for post duplications).

The US Bureau of Labor Statistics is expected to release May job numbers this Friday, June 2nd. Analysts predict that the report will show a drop in monthly payroll additions — a fall from 253K in April to 180K in May — and show a slight increase in the unemployment rate — from 3.4% in April to 3.5% in May. The bad news is countered by good news about openings at 50 top Triangle companies WRAL TechWire tracks weekly for hiring news. This week, 49 of the 50 – primarily in technology- are hiring.
