CARY – Even as job openings and tech sector job postings have dropped in recent weeks after hitting record highs earlier this year, one sector continues to seek talent.

That’s the gaming sector, WRAL TechWire identified in researching this week’s WRAL TechWire Jobs Report.  Of the 46 Triangle-area employers tracked by WRAL TechWire for the weekly report, 45 of them are hiring, including multiple gaming companies with a presence in the state.

Epic Games, for instance, is hiring for 136 positions based in the gaming giant’s Cary campus, and for 216 total roles in the United States.  The company is also hiring an additional 150 roles elsewhere across the global economy, including in the United Kingdom, Canada, Germany, Sweeden, and Serbia, according to the company’s careers webpage.

But Epic isn’t the only gaming company with ties to North Carolina who is recruiting workers.

Red Storm Entertainment, which appointed a new CEO in September following the retirement of the firm’s co-founder and now former CEO, is hiring for 10 open roles.

In Durham, Insomniac Games is hiring for nine open roles.

And Grover Gaming, which is headquartered in Greenville, North Carolina, and also operates a facility in Wilmington, is hiring for 20 positions based in the state.

In 2021, two Triangle cities appeared ranked in the top 20 cities for gaming.

Moving forward, WRAL TechWire will be tracking the open roles in this sector of North Carolina’s economy in the WRAL TechWire Jobs Report, released on Tuesday mornings.
