RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK – IBM – parent of Raleigh-based Red Hat – will not mandate workers to return to the office as long as on-premise attendance continues to grow, IBM (NYSE IBM) Chair and CEO Arvind Krishna says.

Red Hat recently declared return-to-office as an option.

Speaking an a conference Thursday in New York, Krishna said U.S. workers were back in the office at nearly 50% of the time, according to a report from Bloomberg News. He would like to see that figure hit 60%, Bloomberg noted.

However Krishan did not that company culture was harder to maintain with so many workers out of the office.

On a positive note, he said productivity hadn’t been hurt.

IBM operates one of its largest corporate campuses in RTP and employs thousands of people across N.C.
