RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK – WRAL TechWire’s latest weekly count of local positions on national job boards reveals a boost for most Triangle cities, in timing with record growth across the high-tech job market.

Every Sunday, we track the total number of Triangle-area positions posted on major job websites, then we compare it to the previous week’s count. Indeed.com, for example, has 1,944 more jobs than it did a week ago across Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill and Johnston County. Glassdoor shows 937 more jobs across the RTP area than it did last Sunday, and ZipRecruiter also added 1,922 jobs in Raleigh, 851 in Durham and 27 in Johnston County.

As TechWire covered last week, information technology job openings in North Carolina climbed to a record high in March. Per the latest “IT Job Trends” report from NC TECH, there were 49,143 IT openings across the state last month, up 38% from March 2021.

Despite a hot tech job market and week-to-week growth in Triangle openings, a recent WalletHub report ranked North Carolina No. 11 among states where employers are struggling the most with hiring new workers. The report indicates that North Carolina saw a 7.30% rate of job openings over the last month and a 7.08% rate of openings over the last 12 months—placing it ahead of South Carolina (with 7.60% over the last month and the last year) but behind other neighboring states, including Virginia (7.10% and 6.88%, respectively) and Tennessee (7.30% and 6.79%).

WRAL TechWire’s weekly Jobs Report compiles the latest information from the region’s top job boards, offering a breakdown of how many jobs are posted, which companies are hiring, and what positions are most in-demand. We’ve also included upcoming job fairs, student-centric resources, and a list of Twitter accounts that track local job openings.

Below, we’ll review what’s new since last week’s Jobs Report.
