RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK – IBM is expanding its efforts to capitalize on cloud computing and the emergence of 5G technology, acquiring telecommunications services and solutions provider Sentaca in the latest deal made under Chair and CEO Arvind Krishna,

“IBM Consulting VP and senior partner Steve Goetz told Mobile World Live Sentaca’s expertise boosts its system integration credentials, bringing advanced network testing services,” the news site reported.

“Goetz added Sentaca brings the network domain expertise needed to employ AI for 5G service assurance and fault management.”

The deal was announced Tuesday.

Sentaca is based in Boston. It launched in 2008.

The deal is the 20th IBM (NYSE: IBM) has made since Krishna took over as chair and CEO in April 2020. Sentaca becomes part of IBM Consulting and its Hybrid Cloud Services. Ten of the deals were for consulting firms, IBM noted.

Last week, IBM (NYSE: IBM) reported double-digit growth for its cloud business with Raleigh-based Red Hat services and solutions propelling the surge.

IBM employs thousands of people across North Carolina, owns Raleigh-based Red Hat, and operates a huge campus in RTP.
