DAVIDSON – Ingersoll Rand is bolstering its lineup of products by adding Howden Roots, a builder of industrial blowers, for $300 million in cash from Chart Industries.

Roots sells some 25,000 blowers that are manufactured at a factory in Indiana.

Ingersoll Rand (NYSE:IR), which is based in Davidson and provides mission-critical flow creation and industrial solutions, announced the deal early Monday.

The Roots brand, which dates to 1854, has annual revenues of some $115 million, according to Ingersoll Rand.
