HIGH POINT – More fiber high-speed network opportunities are coming to the Triangle region with Johnston and Harnett counties to get a $50 million-plus investment from High point-based Lumos.
Communities on the Lumos expansion list include:
- Johnston County: Benson, Clayton, Four Oaks, Selma and Smithfield
- Harnett County: Dunn, Angier, Coats, Erwin and Buies Creek.
Lumos has been steadily expanding its fiber networks across North Carolina.
The company formerly known as North State Communications recently announced expansion plans for the Wilmington area. In late ’22 it also committed $50 million for expansion in Orange and Durham counties.
“Lumos is changing the definition of internet connection in communities across North Carolina,” said Brian Stading, Lumos CEO. “We believe that all towns, not just the big cities, should have access to a fast and reliable broadband connection. With our Lumos network available in parts of Johnston and Harnett County, families and individuals will be able to seamlessly connect to online learning, telehealth and remote working opportunities.”
