CARY – Epic Games’ antitrust lawsuit against Google will go to trial in November. North Carolina is among 39 states that also are suing Google.

The trial in the Northern District of California federal court will begin Nov. 6, according to a report in tech news site TechCrunch.

The news comes after Epic filed to amend its lawsuit last October and joined dating apps site Match Group.

North Carolina joined the other states in suing Google in July of 2021.

Epic launched its suit against Google in 2020 after Epics’ Fortnite game was booted from the Google Play apps store. It amended the suit in October, saying  the internet giant is paying developers to not create competing apps. Google denies the claim.

Epic also sued Apple over its ban of Fortnite. That case was largely settled in favor of Apple but remains under review.
