RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK – IBM is going to train 500,000 people in the tools of cybersecurity in India, according to a top executive.

“Cybersecurity is a major investment focus and growth vertical for us in the Asia Pacific and India. In India, we have got three locations for development of security products. In addition to that, IBM Security Command Centre and IBM’s Security Operations Centre are the latest multi-million-dollar projects from IBM. Drawing on this breadth of expertise and capabilities, IBM is ready to do its part to help India strengthen its digital defenses,” Chris Hockings, Chief Technology Officer for IBM Security Asia-Pacific, told the India-based business publication MoneyControl.

The India plan covers five years.

IBM also has created a cybersecurity hub in India to cover that country and the APAC, MoneyControl added. The company already had one such hub in the U.S.

Big Blue recently launched a cybersecurity training initiative with several HBCUs in the U.S., including North Carolina Central.
