RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK – Plenty of technology and life science events and program deadlines are coming up across North Carolina in October. Several events will be held in person or in a hybrid format, while many others remain virtual.

Building on WRAL TechWire’s ongoing work tracking important events and deadlines across North Carolina, here’s a look at what’s to come in October 2022:

Application Deadline: 1789 Student Venture Fund

Oct. 1

The 1789 Student Venture Fund provides UNC students with seed funding to explore, test and launch their commercial startups or social ventures. Applications for the latest round of funding are open now.

Application Deadline: Big Launch Challenge Pitch Competition 2022

Oct. 3

The Launch Place’s annual Big Launch Challenge event is returning this fall, offering an opportunity for 10 promising startups to compete for $15,000 in prize money. The 2022 Big Launch Challenge will be held on Nov. 17 in RTP.

Downtown Techies Raleigh Happy Hour

Oct. 4, 5-7 p.m. @Lynnwood Brewing Concern

The Downtown Techies Happy Hour event series is back at Raleigh’s Lynnwood Brewing Concern. Join to network with peers.

Code for Durham: Civic Hacking Session

Oct. 4, 7 p.m. (online)

Code for Durham brings together technologists, designers, developers, data scientists, map makers, and activists to collaborate on civic technology projects. Meetings are held on the first Tuesday of every month.

NC TECH’s Job Expo allows job seekers and employers to connect live via chat and video. Employers will host virtual booths describing employee benefits/perks, job vacancies and more. While the event mainly focuses on candidates seeking tech-related jobs and internships, many employers have openings in non-technical roles.

AgTech Investor Symposium

The AgTech Investor Symposium will feature a full day of discussions covering the growing opportunities for agtech deals and investments.
