DURHAM – Hexawise, one of the emerging startup stars in the Triangle according to investor and entrepreneur Scot Wingo, has been sold.

Austin, Texas-based Idera disclosed its deal for Hexawise early Tuesday. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Hexawise focuses on software test design tools. It will become part of a DevOps/Testing Tools business group within Idera.

Here’s what Wingo wrote about Hexawise in his 2021 report on Triangle “Tweeners:”

“Hexawise is in one of my favorite categories: DevTech — technology that helps software developers. Their solution is in the testing part of development. Today’s engineering teams are generating code faster than ever which means, how are you going to test all this code being produced? Enter Hexawise. Their solution is low-code — as a non coder I can build tests based on scenarios like: “Someone goes to the tweener list, presses this button and then they scroll here and do this and then that” and then hexawise takes care of the rest.”

In the announcement, Tyler Parramore, general manager of Idera’s DevOps and Testing Tools Business Unit, noted: “Hexawise’s cutting edge test case design tools help software development teams find the most efficient mix of test coverage and efficiency. We are excited to expand Hexawise’s reach and add more value to Xray, TestRail, and Ranorex customers.”

The company launched in 2009.

“Today’s operating environment sends businesses on a continuous chase of upgrades for operational efficiencies within their platforms,” said Justin Hunter, co-founder and CEO of Hexawise. “We aim to serve that need by providing project managers and developers with not only the best tool for all types of testing strategies but also the fastest, most comprehensive results. We are confident that Idera’s attentiveness and expertise in this business segment will provide our customers the premier service they expect.“
