RALEIGH – Raleigh-headquartered Victra, an operator of Verizon-branded retail stores and an authorized retailer of Verizon, has acquired Go Wireless.

Following the acquisition, Victra will operate nearly 1,600 locations nationwide in nearly every U.S. state.

According to a statement issued by the company, Go Wireless’ field staff, sales associates, and store managers will become Victra employees.

The Las Vegas, Nevada-based back-office support staff “will stay on to help support post-acquisition integration,” the statement reads.

Victra was founded as a partnership in 1996 by Rich and David Balot.  Rich Balot is also the CEO and chairman of the board of directors.

In the statement, Rich Balot noted that the company has a “commitment to growth” and added that Victra looks forward to bringing the two organizations together.  The company was incorporated as was incorporated as ABC Phones of North Carolina, Inc. in 1999, and also used to be named A Wireless, but updated its brand, becoming Victra, in 2017.

The company held a Job Development Investment Grant (JDIG), an agreement with the state of North Carolina, but requested to terminate the agreement in 2018 when it decided to move headquarters, and most of its staff, to Raleigh.  The following year, the company noted it anticipated hiring as many as 400 workers.

Victra, launched in Wilson, now employs more than 230 people in its Raleigh-based store support center, according to its statement.  It also employs a contact center in Winterville, N.C., and is actively hiring in both locations.
