DURHAM – The performance and talent management platform company Performance Culture is now WorkDove, following investment from Jurassic Capital in 2020, a relocation to Durham from Wilmington, and a platform refresh that occurred during 2021.

The company announced the brand change today, highlighting its name as WorkDove and its software-as-a-service platform as a way for businesses to bring peace to their workplaces.

“The name Performance Culture and our legacy platform served us well, and in fact, is the reason we are here today,” said cofounder and CEO Melissa Phillippi in a statement shared with WRAL TechWire.  “It built a solid foundation for us to serve and learn from our clients, and allowed us to fuel product enhancements that are more relevant and game-changing for the modern workplace.”

The company took on investment from Jurassic Capital, which poured in $2.9 million in funding in late 2020.  The company, founded in Wilmington in 2015, now has most of its employees based in the Triangle.

More hiring coming

Demand for talented workers continues to increase across the state, and in the Triangle.

“Majority of people are in Durham,” said Joe Colopy, partner at Jurassic Capital, in an interview with WRAL TechWire.  “We’ve hired a number of new leaders, particularly on the sales side, with a director of sales, director of marketing, and a director of customer service.”

And more hires are coming, noted Colopy, as the company scales.

“We found a very good company in Performance Capital,” Colopy noted.  “We want a unique name that reflects where we want the company to go,” said Colopy.  “A software company that we can build a culture around.”

Thus: WorkDove.

It will be a more specific brand, according to Colopy, adding that it could be similar to the brand of Bronto Software, which Colopy co-founded and led through its acquisition by Oracle.  “We rallied around this icon, I think we see a similar thing with WorkDove, with really a brand built around making organizations great.”

And it’s here to stay, said Phillippi. “Our new name, look, and platform will allow us to better serve and represent our diverse and modern client base for many years to come.”

“After years of chaos and turmoil in the world, we are thrilled to help usher in a new era of the workplace – one of peace, stability, and personal growth,” said Phillippi.
