RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK – After a few months of steady gains, North Carolina IT job postings experienced a slight dip in December, according to a new report from the NC Technology Association (or NC TECH).

Across the state, the number of IT job openings fell from a record 46,823 in November to 45,155 last month.

Still, NC TECH’s latest IT Job Trends report noted that last month’s total marks a 53% increase from December 2020, when IT jobs totaled 29,535.

“IT job openings in December dipped slightly from November’s all-time high, though were up significantly from the same period a year ago,” points out Brooks Raiford, CEO of NC TECH. “It is common for hiring to slow in the fourth quarter, particularly December, so the fact that job openings are still near their highs is encouraging as we move into the new year.”

Zooming into the Triangle, IT job openings have increased by 39% in the Raleigh Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) since December 2020. The Durham/Chapel Hill MSA also saw 36% gains year-over-year.
