CARY – Privately held SAS, one of the largest employers in the Triangle, is pushing back the full reopening of its corporate campus due to the ongoing surge in COVID-19.
“Due to the rise of COVID-19 cases, we have postponed fully reopening SAS world headquarters until March 1,” SAS spokesperson Shannon Heath tells WRAL TechWire.
However, some employees continue to have access to offices.
“As we approach that date we will reassess conditions,” Heath says. “US offices (including Cary headquarters) remain accessible to vaccinated employees.”
SAS, which employs more than 4,700 people in Cary and 12,000 worldwide, also is providing help to employees who need healthcare.
“We continue to do our part in helping to alleviate the overwhelmed health care system providing easy access to free vaccinations and boosters for employees and their families through the SAS Health Care Center at headquarters,” Heath explains.
Numerous other companies have announced plans to return to offices – but that was before the full onslaught on the new COVID variant and a soaring number of infections.
