WAKE FOREST – Ting, which already provides fiber-speed broadband service to Holly Springs and Fuquay-Varina, is expanding its services offerings to Wake Forest, adding another of what the firm calls “Ting Towns.”

Branded “crazy fast,” Ting’s gigabit service is targeting as many as 10,000 “serviceable addresses.”

Ting is accepting advance orders. The service is expected to become available this summer.

Prices start at $89. There may be other costs such as installation.

Ting is part of the company Tucows, which is publicly traded on the Nasdaq under the symbol TCX. It will soon offer fiber access in seven different cities. Ting first announced plans to establish Triangle networks in 2015.

Several other firms also offer gigabit speeds to various Triangle communities, including Frontier, AT&T, Google Fiber, and CenturyLink. Statewide fiber access is available through MCNC.

“Increasingly, we see that cities and municipalities are looking for better Internet options for their residents and businesses because the incumbents aren’t stepping up,” said Tucows CEO Elliot Noss in the announcement. “Fiber is the technology that will power smart cities for the next hundred years.”
