WINSTON-SALEM – An unspecified number of IBM workers at a call center in Winston-Salem have been laid off, according to a newspaper report.

The Winston-Salem Journal says “an unspecified number of IBM Global Business Solutions contract employees” were let go at a PepsiCo Inc. center.

The newspaper noted that 260 full-time PepsiCo employees were shifted to IBM in 2013 through a seven-year outsourcing deal. The center works with vendors and retailers.

IBM declined to disclose the number of layoffs, adding that it “reviews and assesses the scope of work on an on-going basis to optimize efficiency and service.”
IBM employees several thousand people across North Carolina and operates one of its largest campuses in Research Triangle Park.
