Private equity firm acquires Raleigh-based Global Software, names former LexisNexis exec as CEO

RALEIGH – Global Software, an enterprise resource planning focused firm, has been acquired, merged with another company, and will be led by a former LexisNexis executive based in Raleigh.

TA Associates, a private equity firm, on Thursday announced the acquisition of Global and Insight Software. The two firms will be merged, be known as Insight Software, and will be led by Michael Lipps.

Lipps formerly served as a managing director at LexisNexis, leading that firm’s Raleigh Technology Center and its Legal Software Division. He also served as chief operating officer of MercuryGate International.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

“We’re bringing together the two premier companies in the ERP reporting and business intelligence space to create a world-class platform that helps business leaders make smarter, more informed decisions,” Lipps said in a statement. “I’m incredibly energized to help bring this next generation of world-class financial intelligence tools to our customers so they benefit immediately from the combination.”

The new owners plan to expand the operation, Lipps added.

“With TA Associates as our majority investor, we believe we are well-positioned to expand our capabilities, on-board the best talent in our industry and quickly bring new product functionality to market,” he said.
