Epic Games is giving away $12M in digital assets for its soon-to-shut-down Paragon title

CARY –  The shutdown of a video game by developer Epic Games is turning into a feast for other developers.

Epic is making available free of charge characters (such as the one pictured with this post) and other assets it developed for the soon-to-be shutdown Paragon. Epic says they are worth $12 million.

“We are extremely excited to announce that we’ve released $12 million worth of assets from our action MOBA [multi online battle arena title] Paragon on the Unreal Engine Marketplace,” Epic explains in a forum post. “They’re all free to use in your Unreal Engine 4 projects with no strings attached.”

Epic recently announced the shutdown of Paragon so it could devote more resources to the fast-growing online game Fortnite.

Assets include 20 characters and over 1500 “environment components.”

Unreal 4 is Epic’s popular game development engine.
