Sportscale’sname says it all about the mission of this two-year-old startup: Providing a patented device called the Sportscale to improve weigh-ins by sports organizations so they can meet federal requirements.
“State high school athletic associations, the NCAA, National Football League (NFL), military, and even OSHA have specific requirements for regular weigh-ins to monitor weight as an indicator of hydration status,” explains CEO Sharon Rogers Moore.”The current process of weighing users requires a person to observe weigh in, record the weight, and calculate weight lost between weigh ins. Sportscale does all of this seamlessly.
“The user scans his fingerprint, waits for his weight reading, and steps off, while Sportscale calculates, stores and reports the data. Sportscale provides efficiency and reliability and keeps active persons safe.”
The company, which is based in Wakefield, Va., was formed to commercialize the Sportscale. So far, “13 units have been market tested for 12 months with success,” Moore says.
Sportscale is among the participating companies at the CED Tech Venture Conference on Sept. 19-20 in Raleigh.
