What are the benefits, opportunities and challenges of mobile health? Finding the answers is the focus of the next WRAL TechWire Executive Exchange event with some of the top entrepreneurs and thought leaders in the Triangle participating.
Joanne Rohde, the former Red Hat executive who founded and is CEO of health information startup Axial Exchange is the keynote speaker.
“Our ultimate vision is to connect all the parties in the Health ecosystem safely and securely,” Rohde says. Across all devices with an emphasis on open source solutions. That goal includes mobile, and gaining as well as utilizing data across the Internet of Things is the focus on the Exchange event.
“The Future of Mobile Health” also will include two panel discussions with some of the Triangle’s top executives in health data and related fields participating, including Validic, RelyMD, Medfusion, Valencell and MobileSmith. (Tickets went on sale at Monday morning.)
From individuals monitoring their daily exercise with a wearable device to scientists gathering data for analysis on a massive scale, advances in mobile health are both exciting and a bit unnerving.
The executives participating in this event have the experience and insight to help companies help better understand the challenges they face in capitalizing on what mobile health offers, from benefits for employees to business opportunities – and more.
“We have been doing Executive Exchange events for more than a decade, but I have to say this lineup is among the very best we have been blessed to assemble,” says WRAL TechWire Editor Rick Smith.
“Joanne is widely regarded as a leader in finding ways to improve healthcare through better use of data.
“We’re also pleased to have several entrepreneurial companies that are emerging as global leaders in mobile-focused health. Validic, Valencell and RelyMD are widely known names. Medfusion is finding ways to help patients and payers do business more easily and cost effectively. And MobileSmith is an enterprise app developer across Apple iOS and Android. Executives from these firms will share what they have learned – and where they see mobile health headed.
“And no event about data would be complete without an in-depth examination of security as well as legal issues. We’ll heave leaders in those fields participating as well.”
The event is set for Sept. 27 at the City Club Raleigh.
MobileSmith is sponsoring the event.
The panel sessions will be led by Steve Malik, executive chairman of Medfusion, and Chuck Kesler, chief information security officer at Duke University.
Malik, who also is chairman and owner of the Carolina Railhawks professional soccer team, will lead a panel discussing opportunities in mobile health.
