Faced with the impending retirement of longtime CEO Charles Hayes and the resignation of COO Lee Anne Nance, the Research Triangle Regional Partnership on Wednesday said it is pushing back development and release of a new strategic plan.
The RTRP said the plan is now expected to be finished by September.
The original target date was this month.
Hayes retires as CEO effective June 30.
Nance announced her departure to launch a consulting business last week.
The RTRP said it hoped to have a new CEO hired by September.
In announcing the delay, the RTRP also disclosed that it had retained Harvey Schmitt, the former CEO of the Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce, as an advisor. He has been working with the group since April in reviewing the RTRP’s overall organization and strategy.
“While our work on the RTRP strategic plan is taking time, our preliminary assessment study reveals that membership support for a regional economic development agency is strong and they are interested in seeing a strategic plan that results in a well focused, sustainable and nimble organization that anticipates and meets the future needs of the Triangle region,” Schmitt said in a statement.
