Monsanto plans to close its Research Triangle Park research and development site and move it to Missouri, the company said Monday. About a third of the company’s 75 employees will relocate to its global R&D center in Chesterfield outside St. Louis. The rest of the jobs will be eliminated when Monsanto closes the Triangle location in the second half of 2016.

The move is part of its plans to expand the Missouri R&D center.

The company, the largest seed producer in the world, is suffering from a commodity slump that has slashed farm incomes and purchases.

Earlier this month It said it will cut 2,600 jobs to reduce costs.
