The annual “unconference” CityCamp NC kicks off at HQ Raleigh tonight and continues through Saturday with programmers, business leaders and community leaders gathering to explore how technology can help solve problems facing cities and surrounding areas.

Some 220 people have already registered to participate, according to the organizers.

Wake County is a sponsor and is outspoken in its support of the event.

“Technology enthusiasts and community activists involved with CityCamp NC donate their time and skills, often collaborating with local governments to create tools that meet a local need. This teamwork approach not only leads to a better product based on the broad perspective of the group, but it also helps fill a gap that government may not have the resources to address,” explains Bill Greeves, Wake County Chief Information Officer. “This is our third year of active involvement in CityCamp NC, and each year, the event is invaluable.”
